Venice is arguably one of the most romantic cities in the world. Quite simply, this is a unique place where you will feel as though all of your dreams have come true.

If you are planning a break here with the most special person in your life, then there are some important tips to bear in mind.

Get Around on the Water

For many people the classic image of Venice is that of being transported about on a traditional gondola. You can still take a gondola ride these days and it is certainly a memorable part of any romantic trip.

A more practical way of getting around on the water is in a water taxi or vaporetto. However, one of the big benefits of the gondolas is that they can take you to the back canals where it is quieter than on the bustling Grand Canal.

A gondola ride is reasonably expensive but is definitely worth splashing out on to make your trip even more special. After all, it is a once in a lifetime experience for most of us.

Relax and Wander

Venice is a famously difficult city to get your bearings in. The tall buildings and the narrow streets mean that walking even a short distance can be confusing and time-consuming.

Therefore, the best idea is to treat Venice as a completely different proposition to anywhere else that you have ever been to. Instead of rushing from one attraction to another you should just let the magic of this Italian city overwhelm you.

Strolling around Venice at any time of day and any time of year is a magical experience, expecially for a newlywed couple. The best way to explore it together it is to relax and just see where you end up once you start walking.

For a start, you will understand more about the historic buildings that are sprinkled about. You will also be able to get a greater sense of the immensely important position this city has held in world history for so long.

Enjoy the Local Cuisine

Of course, any trip to Italy is going to involve some terrific cuisine. It is with good reason that this country is widely regarded as being one of the best spots on the planet to eat well.

Among the most highly rated are the seafood restaurant Osteria alle Testiere and the modern A Beccafico. St Mark’s Square is filled with restaurants, too, but it’s in the back streets where you’ll find the more intimate and typically Venetian dining venues.
