Harewood House – Leeds
26/05/2023Harewood House
About eight miles on the outskirts of Leeds is one of Britains most lavish buildings, Harewood House which was constructed between 1759 and 1771 by Edwin Lascelles, one of the wealthiest men in Britain at the time. Edwin employed some of the best known craftspeople of his age: architects John Carr and Robert Adam, cabinet maker Thomas Chippendale and landscape designer Lancelot ‘Capability’ Brown. Today it averages over 250,000 visitors a year and has well over 100 rooms, but only the ornately formal ones are open to the public. I was informed there is more Chippendale furniture in Harewood House than anywhere else in the world. Entrance fee £18.00 #visitbritain @visitbritain #visitleeds @visitleeds
