01/04/2016Pacific islands have a certain, special place in our folklore. They’re a place of wonder that inspired the great minds of the 19th century, like Charles Darwin. They’re magical places, cut off from the rest of the world. They are, in a sense, worlds within the world.
A vacation to one of these islands is like nothing you’ve ever experienced before. The beauty of the flora and the sea is breathtaking. Plus you also get that castaway feeling.
The problem is that there are thousands of islands to choose from, each with their own unique feel. So which should you go to, if you had to choose?
Bali, Indonesia
Unfortunately, Bali was the victim of a terrorist attack in 2002 that killed more than 200 people. But Bali has always been a popular Indonesian tourist spot. The island plays host to some of the world’s best hotels, like the Legian Bali. And it also offers some of the most stunning beaches and sea.
What’s particularly nice about Bali is it’s relatively large size. Thanks to its vast habitats it can support lots of wildlife. If you go to Bali, be sure to check out the island’s jungles, brimming with monkeys and other large animals.
The island also plays host to some incredible architectural artifacts for those that are interested.
The island is also perfect for hiking because of the mountainous terrain. Trails go all the way up Mount Batur if you’re looking for something that is a challenge. And when you get back, you can have your aching muscles returned to health with a soothing massage.

Ouvea is an island in the New Caledonia island group. It has a gorgeous coastline and plays host to some stunning waterfalls.
The island is mainly covered in rainforest, and has its own mountain trials. So it’s ideal for the explorers out there. It’s particularly good, in fact, for cyclists. There are plenty of routes to take on days out in the saddle. And along the way, there are plenty of opportunities to have a picnic.
Ouvea is perhaps most famous for sitting right beside the second largest coral reef in the world. So if you love wildlife, and want to see something a little different, this little island is the one for you.

Fiji has gained a reputation recently for being the go-to place for people seeking luxury. The island is now overflowing with exclusive spas, bars and restaurants.
Though the island is a mere twelve kilometers squared, a lot is packed in. There are golf courses, water parks and even places to grow your own vegetables.
Because it is an exclusive location, you’ll be looking at spending more money that you would at other destinations. But that is why you would choose a holiday in Fiji.
