There’s no better way to see one of the great wonders of the world than to be camped right on it, with the azure blue warm waters gently lapping at your doorstep and the sound of birdsong in the skies above.

Wilson Island is a tiny and remote coral cay, located off the Queensland coast. It is part of the Great Barrier Reef surrounded by its very own pristine manne-filled reef and castor sugar sands, and is the home of rare breeding turtles and an abundance of sea birds.

The Island provides a maximum of just twelve guests with the unique opportunity to camp out in one of its six stylish tents in private luxury where guests can fulfill their very own Robinson Crusoe castaway dreams. Those who are drawn to the Island will see its natural beauty and the freedom from modern day living as its appeal. Days can be filled snorkelling and exploring the Island and, in season, turtle and bird watching or experiencing the birth of tiny hatchlings – a truly memorable experience!

Help yourself to a refreshing drink from the Longhouse bar and simply laze in your very own deck hammock, taking in the breathtaking views.??Evenings begin with guests enjoying sundowners and canapés served on the beach. The thousands of birds that have been silently roosting all day in the cool of the trees will take flight and paint patterns against the orange of the setting sun.

Return to the Longhouse, where your hosts will have set the long table for a delicious house dinner party – swap stories of turtle sightings, underwater adventures, and reefside discoveries as candles light the canopy and flicker in the gentle evening breeze.??The best way to get to Wilson Island is via a short helicopter flight from Gladstone to Heron Island, then onwards via launch. Travel light for this barefoot paradise haven, and remember to take plenty of sunscreen to protect you from the reflected heat of the open sea and pristine white sand. Snorkelling gear and wetsuits are provided.

Room rates: from AU$2,100 per room for a two-night stay, including accommodation, all meals, selected range of premium alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, snorkelling gear and return launch transfers between Wilson and Heron Islands, and taxes.
