The luxury side of Ibiza

Believe it or not, there’s a whole other side to Ibiza which doesn’t have to include alcohol, partying and hangovers. As the third largest of the Balearic Islands, it’s full of hidden gems waiting to be discovered. Many of its popular resorts have beautiful sandy beaches, serene sunsets and secluded coves. If that sounds appealing, you’ll be pleased to know this luxury side to Ibiza flies under the radar so you could have it all to yourself! Here’s a look at what the island has to offer and who knows, your thoughts on the “party capital” could even change.

Luxury Resorts
With over 15 resorts, it’s hard to narrow it down to the most luxurious. Playa Es Cana on the north coast of the island is very peaceful and a popular choice for couples and families looking to escape the crowds. Its main horseshoe-shaped beach is complete with golden sands and clear shallow waters, ideal for a paddle between sunbathing sessions. There are also lots of authentic restaurants for you to enjoy the delectable local cuisine. Just along from Es Cana is Santa Eulalia, a very popular resort especially for those looking for a quieter holiday. The resort is often regarded as the cultural centre of the island with unique art galleries and a stunning yacht marina.

Luxury Hotels
In 2007 the Ibiza government announced that all hotels looking to be built must reach a five star standard, which would give the island an exclusive edge and increase the number of tourists arriving for a “traditional” beach holiday. This move is beginning to pay-off as the island now boasts a huge choice of luxury five star accommodation, perfect for relaxation, pampering and style. One stand out hotel is the Quilibra Aguas de Ibiza. It’s a 4-storey property, located close to the town of Santa Eulalia alongside a seafront promenade. There are 3 swimming pools, a luxury spa offering massages and treatments, plus a number of restaurants and bars so you don’t have to venture too far. Despite what’s on offer, the hotel is still very reasonable in price. To see more hotels on offer in Ibiza, please click here

Las Salinas beach is a real hot spot in the summer. On the most southern tip of the island, the beach is extremely popular with celebrities, meaning it has the rich and famous seal of approval. The sea is crystal clear and proves very welcoming for a cool dip or even some water sports fun. The sandy beach is secluded with pine woods adding a natural touch to the peaceful surroundings. If you’re travelling with a loved one, then head to Cala Salada for a bit of alone time in a romantic setting; pack a picnic for the evening and watch the sunset together.

Luxury Attractions
Discover the beautiful and diverse landscape on a mountain bike or even take to a horse if you’re brave enough. Book a table at the hottest restaurant on the island, Blue Marlin Ibiza, found at the heart of the marina in Ibiza Town where you can enjoy a Mediterranean cuisine, a true five-star dining experience. To add a bit of style and glamour to your Ibiza holiday, why not head to one of the iconic beach clubs on the island? Don’t worry it’s not clubbing as such; there’s a lot more to it than that. The Ocean Beach club is renowned for attracting A-list stars, with the likes of Leonardo Di Caprio to Mario Ballotelli paying a visit. Here you can relax under the stars listening to live music, sip champagne on the beach and indulge in the finest cuisine. Make sure you look into booking tickets as they are quick to sell out in peak season.

There really is a lot more luxury to this Balearic Island than first thought, why not take a trip to Ibiza and enjoy the natural beauty that’s waiting to welcome holidaymakers around the world.
